What is Spam Musubi?
Spam Musubi is a classic Hawaiian snack with crispy spam, pressed rice, and seaweed and some options of seasoning of Japanese barbecue sauce and a topping of spicy mayo. In Hawaii Spam Musubi can be found in every 7-Eleven for $1 each. It can be served as a snack and lunch item. It is a form of musubi which originally came to Hawaii from Japan. It is a popular item among the lunchboxes for Hawaiian plantation workers.

Ingredients
2 cups of uncooked rice
2 cups of water
1 can of spam
Nori seaweed
Japanese barbecue sauce (Optional)
Spicy mayo
Cooking Oil
Spam Musubi mold or empty spam container
Prep and Cook
Pour 2 cups of rice into a bowl and rinse 3 times.
In a rice cooker place the washed rice inside and put 2 cups of water and wait for it to cook.
Empty the can of spam and cut it into thin slices.
Soak the spam in the Japanese Barbecue Sauce for 30 minutes to an hour.
In a pan pour oil and put the spam in.
Let each side of the spam sit for 2 minutes before flipping.
Cut Nori seaweed into 3 even strips.
Molding Spam Musubi
Place a strip of seaweed down.
With a Spam Musubi mold or empty spam container with plastic wrap inside, press rice down.
Remove the mold you used and place a piece of spam.
Wrap the seaweed around.
Turn the spam musubi to the other side so the excess seaweed is at the bottom.
Drizzle spicy mayo if you would like on the top.
You have Spam Musubi.
Storing Spam Musubi
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days
Wrap in plastic wrap and store in the fridge for up to 3 days
Reheating Spam Musubi
Place on a microwavable plate and cover with a damp paper towel.
Reheat in the microwave for 1 minute
