What is Fried Rice?
Fried Rice is a dish of boiled or steamed rice that is stir-fried with soy sauce, beaten egg, chopped meat and vegetables. It is a popular component of East Asian, Southeast Asian and central South Asian cuisines as well as Indonesia. Fried rice is mainly a homemade dish made from leftovers from other dishes. Fried rice is a common street food in Asia. The earliest record of fried rice was in the Sui dynasty. A frying technique is used for fried rice which became widely popular.
Ingredients
Long grain white rice (typically day old rice kept in the fridge)
Small white onion
Vegetables - Peas and Carrots (can be frozen)
Eggs
Soy Sauce
Green onion
Sesame Oil
Cook
In a bowl beat the egg
Get a pan and put sesame oil
Add chopped white onion, peas, and carrots
Fry till tender
On the other side of the pan pour beaten eggs
Scramble eggs and mix it with the onion, peas, and carrots
Add rice and combine all together
Slowly pour soy sauce and stir till rice is crispy
Garnish with chopped green onion

Tips for Fried Rice
Cold rice or day old rice. This helps prevent and keep the rice from sticking with each other.
Use Jasmine or long grain rice. Using long grain rice will produce the best results and is most commonly used.
Use sesame oil. For an authentic flavor this is a must. Sesame oil has a nutty aroma that brings the flavors together in this dish.
Storing Fried Rice
Store in an airtight container and put in the fridge for up to 3 to 5 days
Store in a zip lock and freeze for up to 6 months
Reheating Fried Rice
In a microwavable safe plate or bowl microwave till warm
